Interamerican (Greece)
Achmea has a 100% stake in Interamerican in Greece. It holds a number-two position in the Greek non-life and life markets, and it has strong health product lines. Interamerican is one of the most widely recognised insurance brands in Greece.
Based in Athens, the company employs approximately 1,500 people. Interamerican also operates the MediFirst health services clinic and is the only insurer in Greece providing emergency assistance.
History
The company was established in 1969 and expanded to include operations in Romania and Bulgaria. Interamerican was briefly traded on the Athens Stock Exchange before Eureko (the current Achmea) acquired the group in 2001.
