Achmea is governed, organised and managed in much the same way as any listed organisation. However, our cooperative origins also contribute to the way we structure governance at the Supervisory Board and shareholder levels.
All our shareholders are unlisted European companies and associations with cooperative roots. Our largest shareholder is the Vereniging (Association) Achmea. The Stichting Administratiekantoor Achmea (STAK) represents our Dutch customers through Vereniging Achmea, and has issued depository receipts to them.
Rabobank, Achmea’s second-largest shareholder, is also a cooperative association. Vereniging Achmea and Rabobank together hold 94.6% of ordinary shares.
We have an Executive Board and a Supervisory Board. The Executive Board is responsible for day-to-day business and reports to the Supervisory Board. The Supervisory Board oversees the Executive Board’s conduct and general business management.
Achmea B.V. is a private company with limited liability. Its statutory seat and head office are in Zeist, in the Netherlands.
