Achmea B.V.’s largest shareholder is Vereniging (Association) Achmea. It grew out of the mergers that brought several cooperative insurers under the Achmea umbrella. Vereniging Achmea holds 65.3% of Achmea's shares and it also holds the ‘A’ share, which carries special voting rights.
Rabobank, the largest bank on the Dutch market, holds 29.3% of Achmea's shares. Thereby it is Achmea's second largest shareholder and it is also a cooperative association.
Vereniging Achmea and Rabobank together hold 94.6% of the ordinary shares. The remainder of our shares are in the hands of like-minded European financial institutions, often with mutual backgrounds.
